President persuades Palestinian leaders to resume talks

SANA’A, Dec. 17(Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh made on Sunday two phone calls to the head of the Palestinian Authority President MahmoudAbbas and chairman of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, Khalid Mishaal. President Saleh reviewed with two Palestinian officials the latest developments on the light of the rising tension between Fatah and Hamas, especially after Abbas announced for holding early presidential and legislative vote. He called Abbas and Mishaal to avoid the inter-Palestinian escalation and to return to talks in order to form a national unity government andmake an end to the Palestinian bloodshed so as not to pave the way for Israeli to realize its goals. The two Palestinian leaders agreed on resuming talks between both sides for the sake of forming a national unity government and to shun clashes. AM/AH SABA
