President orders to set up GUYLS headquarters
SANA’A, March 23 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh gave orders on Sunday to set up headquarters for the General Union of Yemen Labor Syndicates (GUYLS). During his meeting with the leadership of the union, president Saleh affirmed support for the union to resolve any problems facing the union. The country does not need for further problems, he said, pointing out to efforts of the government to tackle current international increase in price hikes of the basic goods, especially wheat. He said that the recent successful conference of the union is a clear answer for people who call for regional and sectarian strife and separation. “Such call are impossible,” he said. He said that the conference, that was held last week after 17 years of reunifying the country, is a practical and wonderful response to these “small blebs.” Last week, the union held its 9th conference to discuss a general report on the activities of the executive office for the past years and other reports related to the works of the confederation. The conference elected new leadership for the union. AH/AM Saba
