President opens the Supreme Military Academy
SANA’A, Sep (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh opened Wednesday the Supreme Military Academy where he was received by defense minister and head of general staff as well as top military officials. The President Ali Abdullah Saleh attended a ceremony held on this occasion at the big hall in the academy and he delivered a speech in which he congratulated Yemeni people in the 41st anniversary for 26 September revolution and 40th anniversary for 14 October revolution. “The two revolutions are considered as serious changes in Yemeni people’s life in different political, economic, social and cultural fields,” he said. He pointed out that the setting up of the academy is a step in the way of building military forces. ” We should run after modern information and contemporary developments because it is the time of technology and information, not time of isolation and backwardness ,” he added. He indicated that the academy would be open for students from Arab, Islamic and friendly countries. He described the military orporation as a sample of national unity because it is based on national principles, saying that it is impartial corporation and does not belong to any political party. Head of general staff,Mohammed Ali Al-Qasimi,on his part, delivered a speech in which he conveyed congratulations of individuals of military forces to the president on the celebration of Yemeni revolution. Al-Qasimi said that the opening of the academy represents a good response to keep up with the modern and scientific developments. He added that the military forces are ready to implement all their tasks and responsibilities properly to realize a strong building of the armed forces in different fields. The academy consists of 58 studying rooms and offices, four big halls for examinations, 8 rooms for training and rehabilitation, mosque, and other facilities. The academy also includes college of command and staff, academic college and national defense college. Meanwhile, President Ali Abdullah Saleh paid a visit to the School of Republican Guards and 62 Mech- brigade. During the visit, the president inspected condition of study in the school and process of training and rehabilitation in the brigade. The project estimated at YR 1.6 billion. AH/NM SABA
