President meets US Agriculture Secretary

WASHINGTON, June 8 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here on Tuesday US Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman. In the meeting, they discussed aspects of the cooperation between Yemen and the US department of agriculture and food aid presented to Yemen.The meeting dealt with the projects implemented by US agriculture department in Yemen such as Saella project and the setting of fishing ports at a total cost of US$ 200 million five years ago.The US secretary highlighted the level of the cooperation between Yemen and United States and efforts of Yemen in fighting terror.Meanwhile, president Saleh attended a ceremony of signing an agreement on food aid offered by the United States to Yemen, estimated at $ 36 million.Yemeni Foreign minister Dr. Abu Bakr al-Qirbi inked the agreement with the US Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman. The aid includes 10 thousand tons of milk, 13,500 tons of flour and 44 tons of wheat that wound be sold to use money in implementing development projects in the country.President Saleh valued US aid to Yemen, pointing out to the current partnership between the two countries in different fields.He is now visiting United Stated to participate in the G-8 Summit that is being held in Georgia state.
