President meets Spanish ambassador to Sana’a
SANA’A, June 19 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh met here on Saturday with the Spanish ambassador to Sana’a Marcos Vega, whose country currently holds the EU’s Presidency. Talks in the meeting dealt with the bilateral relations and the joint cooperation between the two friendly countries and means of boosting them in various fields, in addition to discussing the regional and international issues of common concern, among them those relevant to Yemen’s Friends Group. The Spanish ambassador praised the President Saleh’s initiative at the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Unification Day through calling upon all the political forces to a national dialog, as well as the release of detainees so as to prepare for a serious dialog within the constitutional institutions of the State. He affirmed the support of his country and the EU to Yemen’s unity, security and stability. President Saleh voiced his comfort for the development of the current relations between the two countries, commending the support offered by Spain and the EU to the process of development and democracy in Yemen.
