President meets Pakistani businessmen

ISLAMABAD, April 11 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh met here on Pakistan with the Pakistani businessmen and Yemeni students who are studying in Pakistan.

In the meeting, president Saleh delivered a speech in which he pointed out to the cooperation agreements signed between the two countries, welcoming
Pakistani investments in Aden Free Zone and industrial zones as well as in Yemeni islands.

He indicated to characteristics of Yemeni location for Pakistani investors to transport their products to African countries in addition to Yemeni markets.

“We support our students to study in Pakistan even in higher education or other fields of education, he said. He said that he visited military factories, adding that Yemen has concerns about the military industries.
He said that Yemen has achieved during the previous period a notable progress in industrial field, highlighting advantages of Yemen law of Investment.

Saleh confirmed desire of Yemen to set up investment projects in Pakistan within the framework of the economic integration between Islamic countries, saying that the current scientific achievements in Pakistan are not proud for Pakistani people only, but said for the Islamic world too.

President Saleh concluded his speech by urging Yemeni students in Pakistan to be well ambassadors for their homeland, thanking Pakistani government for granting scholarships for Yemeni students to increase their capacities to serve their country.

In the meeting, the head of the Pakistani Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered a speech on behalf of Pakistani businessmen in which he expressed happiness that Yemeni leadership started to focus on activities which target development and economic process across Yemen.

He praised the success of Yemeni efforts in field of constructions and development, pointing out to the key role of the private sector in the development and economic growth. He said that there is a possibility to increase the volume of trade exchange between Yemen and Pakistan through extending cooperation fields and setting up joint investments.

He added that the visit of the president Saleh to Pakistan would develop economic ties between two countries. He said that the chamber would organize a exhibition for Pakistani industrial products in Sana’a soon.
