President meets IMF chief

SANA’A, April 30 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh met Monday at the headquarters of his residence in Washington with the managing director of the International Monetary Fund(IMF) Rodrigo De Rato. The meeting discussed projects financed by the fund in Yemen and economic, financial and administrative reforms by the Yemeni government. They reviewed the results of the donor conference, held last year in London. Rato praised successes by the government in those fields and its efforts to strengthen the principle of transparency and fighting corruption, stressing the fund’s support for the developmental project in Yemen. He declared that the presidential elections held last September promoted Yemen’s status, pointing out to steps of practicing democracy in the country. He appreciated Yemen’s efforts in confronting terrorism. President Saleh extolled the fund’s support to Yemen for developmental projects and programs of reforms and combating poverty. He stressed that Yemen would keep working on implementing the National Agenda for Reforms and improving investment climate. FR/AM SABA
