President meets Dick Cheney
Washington, June 9 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh met with US Vice resident Dick Cheney in White House on Tuesday. They discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in political, economic fields and fighting terror.They also discussed the developments and situations the region particularly developments in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan.President Saleh acquainted US Vice President with Yemen’s vision in settling security and stability in Iraq and resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict. The two sides confirmed the common interest to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhancing the current partnership between the two countries at various levels. Cheney valued Yemen’s efforts in fighting terror and its support for the international efforts in this regard. He appreciated the democratic trend in Yemen and the political and economic reforms .satisfaction on two friendly countries developing relations, he also praised efforts being exerted by Yemen in combating terrorism fields and in supporting international efforts on this regard. On his part President Saleh valued US support for democracy in Yemen , pointing out the great accomplishments achieved in Yemen in the field of democracy and the political and economic reforms. He made it clear that Yemen adopted bath of reforms since 1990. He also renewed Yemen’s welcome of the reforms in the region, confirming that reforms will not be fruitful unless it goes together with justice , development programs supporting and combating poverty in poor countries.
