President meets capital’s political and social figures

SANA’A, Feb. 20 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh met here on Sunday with members of local councils, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), women and businessmen in the capital Sana’a.During the meeting held in the 22 May Hall, President Saleh delivered a speech, welcoming the large crowd form the Capital Sana’a.President Saleh talked about the capital’ saying “We must preserve this governorate as we do to our eyes and as we safeguard other governorates from chaos and from subversives, who seek to disturb the National Unity, and security.We have called [on the opposition parties] for dialogue, the President said, confirming readiness “to meet their demands if they are legitimate”.We should go with a sense of great responsibility to the table of dialogue, which is better than vandalism or killing or tampering with public and private moneys.President Saleh voiced his deeply regrets for what happened in Khor Makser and Sheikh Othman districts of Aden governorate in the last two days committed by outlaws. “We also regret that some journalists have been affected by the violent protests.The President expressed his regrets for the six wounded policemen, asserting “We do not want that to happen again”. Anyone wants to express opinion must obey the law and be licensed as well act peacefully.He reiterated call for the national dialogue, saying that it could be under his auspice as a President of the State not a party chairman.HA/AF
