President holds meeting with Southern Region military, security leaders

ADEN, Nov. 20 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh held on Tuesday a meeting with officials of security and army in the Southern Region and discussed with them a number of issues of importance to the process of development in the armed forces sector. He addressed them on tasks and duties they should perform to serve security and stability of this nation, in addition to issues of relation to retirees of the military and security bodies and remedies which have been taken regarding them. The president spoke of efforts done in field of development and construction for the state’s institutions specially armed and security forces. He came across what have been done on military retirees, noting that the government approved billions of riyals to solve their issues in the military, security and civic systems. “Those retirees are parts of this country and we appreciate their efforts which they exerted during their service and performing their national duty,” Saleh said, reviewing a number of developments and issues of interest to the country specially in the current time. He pointed out to armed and security forces role in performing their national duties and encountering aggressive calls which try to offend the nation by causing troubles to affect security and stability of the country and the Yemeni unity. He indicated that those who do such acts are limited elements which lost their interests and seek to promote agenda of those opponent of the country. “There is no worry about the Yemeni unification as it was created to last and is protected by the bless of Allah the Almighty as well as the will of the Yemeni people who are awake and alert side by side with the state constitutional institutions, coming on top is the military and security forces,” Saleh said. Saleh affirmed the importance of all to be aware of their responsibilities and duties and also the military and security forces affiliate be the right example in this regard. They should respect regulations and law and avoid negatives that could harm their reputation as affiliates of the country defense forces, noting that Yemen has directed towards democracy and pluralism which guarantee freedom of expression for all. He said that security bodies should be under order of local authority to do their tasks in controlling public security and stability, combat crime and encounter all forms of destruction actions which affect national economy, affirming the necessity of coordination and cooperation between security and military systems. As for banning carrying weapons, he praised exerted efforts in this regard and asserted the importance of continuing strictly implementing these procedures. AM/AM Saba
