President holds meeting with members of Hadramout local council

MUKALLA, Dec. 02 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh held a meeting on Sunday with members of Hadramout Local Council and executive offices as well as security and military commanders and members of parliament of the governorate. In the meeting, president Saleh talked about several issues associated with the current development in the country. He pointed out that the constitution insures freedom of expression and political activities by setting demonstrations and so people should respect law and practice their rights peacefully in accordance with law and constitution. He highlighted experience of the local council during the six years ago, pointing out to the steps taken to boost decentralizations. President welcomed any opinions or suggestions over his recent initiative over making constitutional amendments. President Saleh said that the future is promising with security and stability, affirming the importance of gathering efforts to settle stability as well as pushing the development process forwards. He renewed call for businessmen to invest in Yemen. Hadramout governor Taha Hajir presented a report on behalf of the council over the current work process in development projects in fields of electricity, dams, roads, health and education. He pointed out to initiative of president Saleh to change the ruling regime into local ruling in order to extend popular participation, considering decision of banning carrying weapons in cities contribute to reducing crimes rate. For their part, the participants talked about the needs of citizens, pointing out to the big achievements done in the governorate during recent years in spheres of investment and service projects. Meanwhile, president Saleh paid a visit to the Circle Road Project in the governorate which is 60 km long. The road is very important to improve trade and industrial movement in the governorate, he said. AH/AM Saba
