President holds Iftar banquet in Hodeidah city

HODEIDAH, Oct. 12 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh held on Thursday receptive welcoming ceremony and Iftar banquet in Hodeidah city on occasiono f holy month of Ramadan and celebration of 44th anniversary of 26th September Revolution and 14 October Revolution. The ceremony was attended by governors of Hodeidah and Raymah, scholars and members of parliament and local councils, representatives of non-governmental organizations, businessmen, media personal, poets and authors. In the ceremony, president Saleh delivered a speech in which he congratulated attendants from Hodeidah and Raymah governorates. He thanked people for your trust granted to me and General People’s Congressin the local elections. He pointed out to the great achievements of the local councils during the pervious years. He said that in Hodeidah, the local councils carried out projects at a total cost of about 250 billion during the past period. He said that the process of making amendments on law of local authority to insert articles over electing governors and directors of districtswill take several weeks. AH/AH SABA
