President flies to Doha to attend G77 summit

SANA’A, June 14 (Saba)- In the company of senior state officials, President Ali Abdullah Saleh flew to Doha on Tuesday to attend the second G77 plus China summit due to start on Wednesday. The president stated that the summit “takes place at a time when the world is facing big economic challenges and the scourges of terrorism and extremism surging in concomitance with poverty and unemployment”. The president put it bluntly saying increasing poverty, unemployment and population growth breed a fertile ground for terrorism and extremism to flourish. Thus, the summit, he continued, is oriented to create a unified stance among the G77 countries so that they can push their economies forward and protect them against hegemony. The president expressed his appreciation for the prince and the government of Qatar for hosting the summit hoping the results of the summit would meet the aspirations of other countries. AA/AA SABA
