President: current electoral competition is good

SANA’A, Sep. 13 (Saba)-President Ali Abdullah Saleh said on Wednesday that the current competition for presidential election is good and will set up better future for peaceful transport of power. In an interview with al-Jazeera, president Saleh said that the competition is serious. “We wished if the Joint Meeting Parties were more serious and present a candidate from their leaders,” he said. The existence of international observation on elections beside the local observation is evidence of seriousness of elections, he said. He said that he would accept the results wherever they will be. If the JMP candidate win the elections, I will hold a ceremony on this occasion because I am founder of democracy, he said. In the interview, president Saleh replied on questions associated with Arab and international issues as well as future plans for Yemen. AH/AH SABA
