President chairs meeting of GPC general committee
ADEN, Nov. 15 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh chaired on Thursday in Aden city a meeting with members of general committee of the ruling-party General People Congress (GPC) over current developments at the national level and several issues included in the general committee’s agenda. During the meeting, the general committee listened to a report on a draft of the constitutional articles related to the president’s amendments initiative aiming at improving the political and democratic system in the country presented by a legal committee, then the general committee approved a fixed timeframe to finalize the constitutional amendment procedures. The committee also discussed a report on outcomes of the current dialogue between the GPC and the parties represented in the parliament, approving the set deadline to end it, confirming concern of the GPC to adopt dialogue as modern way to protect interests of the nation. The committee dealt with procedures associated with reforming the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum in accordance with constitution. It affirmed importance of mobilizing all efforts to take part in battle of development and investment within framework of executing the president’s electoral platform. The committee highlighted efforts exerted by the government to carry out the president’s platform at various levels to speed up the development and investment processes in order to reduce unemployment and improve living standard of the people.
