President chairs GPC’s General Committee meeting

SANA’A, Feb. 21 (Saba) – Chaired by President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the General Committee of General People Congress (GPC) held a meeting on Thursday for discussing a number of topics concerning developments on the national level. The committee reviewed a report over results of the parliament presidency’s elections held last week ended up with electing Yahya al-Ra’ei as a new Speaker of the Parliament to succeed Sheikh Abdullah al-Ahmar who died last December. The committee get acquainted with a report on last developments related to executive steps of the agreement of ending rebellion in Saada and realizing peace and stability in areas where confrontations have taken place. The committee also approved the constitutional amendment drafts presented by the legal committee in charge of and also discussed amendment drafts concerning amending the election law and forming the Supreme Commission for Election and Referendum.
