President chairs GPC general committee meeting over current situation
SANA’A March 17 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh chaired on Monday a meeting for the general committee of the General People Congress (GPC) Party over current developments in the nation. The meeting also discussed the constitutional amendments, economic status, price rise and future of the dialogue with other political parties as well as a number of organizational issues related to the GPC party. The general committee listened to its members’ remarks on the amendments, affirming the importance of adopting a wide-accountability local ruling system and creating a system of two legislative chambers (the parliament and Shoura council) based on some countries’ successful experiences in this regard. The meeting asked the government to take a set of immediate measures to reduce impacts of the price rise on government’s employees and security and military forces personnel. AH/AF Saba
