President calls donors to set service projects

IBB, August 14 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh called Saturday on benevolent donors to contribute to the construction of classrooms and mosques. In a speech in Ibb province during a visit today, President Saleh called on “benevolent donors to cooperate with the government in building more classrooms in schools”. He called the “extraordinary” competition in construction of mosques as “sometimes a health and sometimes unhealthy symptom”. “Build mosques genuinely for people to pray in, not to boast (your deeds),” he stressed. He also warned of the graveness of expensive dowries saying that obstacles for marriage make the unmarried more vulnerable to immoral acts. The President said that public servants who lavishly spend on cars and invitations of senior government officials must be questioned over corruption and violation of public funds. AA/NSSABA
