President attends consultative meeting over third five plan in Taiz
Taiz SANA’A, Sep 28 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh attended on Wednesday a consultative meeting over third consultative meeting over Third Five-Year Development Plan for Poverty Reduction (2006-2010) in Taiz. The meeting was participated officials and representatives of the private sector and non-governmental organizations from Taiz, Ibb, Al-Da’la and Dhamar provinces. In the meeting, President Saleh highlighted a policy of the government to address its plans with other partners of the development in privatesectors and NGOs, saying that such meting reflects the real partnership. “The meetings extend ground of the popular partnership that proves the decisions resulted from reality to meet needs of the people,’ he said.
He affirmed importance of making a balance between resources and needs, saying there are some secondary cities need for universities but with current limited resources it is impossible.
He said that there are a number of amendments on the local authority law including election all members by the citizens directly. He appreciated participation of the officials of four provinces in this meeting. The Deputy Minister of Planning Dr. Yahya al-Mutawakel said that since 2002, the government has adopted a new policy of involving private sector and NGOs in the development process.
Dr. al-Mutawakel said that the partnership between the government, the private sector and NGOs was essential for social and economic development in the country.
