President arrives in Riyadh

RIYADH, March 27 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday to participate in 19th Arab summit, which would be held on March 28-29. Upon his arrival, President Saleh stated to media means that this summit is holding this year within hard situations and big challenges facing Arab nation on different fronts, pointing to the bad situations in Palestine, Iraq, Somalia and south of Sudan and the current political situation in Lebanon. He expressed hope that the summit would come out with solutions to face all those challenges that target security and stability of Arab nation. “Yemen would reaffirm the importance of developing joint Arab work and maintaining reforms, as well as enhancing role of the Arab League,” said the President. Regarding Somalia, President Saleh affirmed the significance of supporting the current Somali government and offering assistance to rebuild Somali civil corporations in order to realize security and stability in this Arab country. He pointed out to support of development, peace and unity of Sudan, confirming commitment of Yemen with fair and comprehensive peace as Arabic strategic choice. Saleh said that the peace could only be achieved by implementing international resolutions, full withdrawal of Israel from Arab territories and setting up the Palestinian independent state and al-Quds as its capital. He concluded his statement by expressing thanks for King of Saudi Arabia Abdallah bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud and government and people of the kingdom to host the summit, wishing success for the summit.
