President accuses opposition of seeking “settlement of scores”

SANA’A, August 9 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh believes the stance of the opposition parties toward the rebellion in the northern province of Saada was an act of settling scores with the political system. In an interview published Monday by the Emirates-based al-Khaleej daily newspaper, President Saleh also charged some opposition parties of basing that stand on a political ideology “that is aimed to draw time backward”. He went on to say those parties “believe they have an ethnic right to usurp power”. He said that that the time for this way of power controlling has gone. “There are legal means for accession to power, these (means) don’t contradict with our values, culture or democracy.” AA/NS SABA
