Poverty is the main factor of extremism, president Saleh
SANA’A, August 12(Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh confirmed that Yemen has achieved a notable success in the fight against terrorism through security procedures and theological dialogue with militants. President Saleh confirmed in an interview to the Japanese Nikay newspaper that poverty is one of the extremism factors. ” We seek to alleviate poverty and deliver development all over the country to prevent extremism,” said Saleh. President Saleh said that the “education reform does not mean in any way to reduce religious curriculums. “We only focus on curriculums that do not encourage extremism and on scientific materials,” said Saleh. president Saleh said there were four ways to limit terrorism: poverty alleviation, moderate education, commitment to democracy, national and international justice, especially in relation to Arab-Israeli conflict and other Mid-East issues. “The American continuous bias toward Israel results in more unrest in the region and it increases extremism, poverty and hatred,” said Saleh He said that Yemen receives moral support more than material in the fight against terror. He pointed that US had presented to Yemen more support than other countries but , he said, that was not enough. “We accept any aid but we need economic aid to create jobs and absorb unemployment,” Saleh underlined.
