SANA’A,(Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh confirmed here on Friday that his talks with the Eritrean President Isaias Afwoki was successful and fruitful for the two counties. President Saleh said in an interview with the Eritrean Space Channel that he discussed with President Afwoki issues of the bilateral cooperationbetween the two counties in the economic and cultural fields in addition to security cooperation. Eritrean TV. : “Mr President Ali Abdullah Saleh we welcomed you in the Eritrean space TV. in the beginning, tell us about what did you discussed with President Afworki.” President Saleh: “Our talks were excellent and useful for the brotherly neighboring counties, we discussed a band of issues of bilateral relations,economic, cultural cooperation, security coordination, common investmentand we agreed to set up a common fish investment company and there are eight agreements will be signed in 24th of January in Asmara by the ministerial cmmon committees”. Saleh said that the agreements will enhance the relations between the two counties and would create real partnership. He points out that Eritrean productions would be exported to Yemen would export its production to Eritrea . “We also discussed international and regional issues and we have the same viewpoints on that issues.” President Saleh said. When asked about the importance of Afworki’s visit to Yemen, President Saleh said, The visit was excellent and it melts the ice which expected to be exist by some people who wants to fabricate the events and investthem. Regarding Yemen political and diplomatic regional role and what could may be played by Yemen in dissolving the Eritrean- Ethiopian conflict,the President said, “I can’t say that I am a mediator but I will use ourgood relations and our country’s relations with the Ethiopia and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and I will exert all my best efforts for implementingthe resolutions related to arbitration as long as the two countries acceptthat.” ” I will do my best with Prime Ministers Zenawi and god willing I look forward that the results would be good and useful, I expect that” Saleh added. When asked about Yemen role in the Somali issue President Saleh pointed out that Yemen received more than 500.000 Somali refugee and the stabilityand security of Somalia concern Yemen and the security of Yemen concerns the neighboring countries Eritrea , Ethiopia and the Gulf states. He added that Yemen is not concern with whom will be chosen lead the Somalipeople what concern Yemen is security and stability in Somalia and building the Somali state, the Somali government was elected and this is the primarystep to build their state.
