CSOs Forum participants request president to stop executing

SANA’A, Dec. 03 (Saba) – Participants in the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Forum parallel to the 4th Future Forum have appealed to the President Ali Abdullah Saleh for stopping executing the death sentence against Adeeb Mohammed al-Maqtari, the Saba-run al-Syasiah newspaper reported on Monday. “We issued our appeal, which is added to the previous ones from the Amnesty International and the International Alliance for Opposing Death Penalty, based on certainty that al-Maqtari had not been enabled to use all his rights to defend himself during the trial”, they said in a letter to the president, the paper has got a copy of. They asserted that the rulings were built on several breaches must be reconsidered again. “We are all confident of your human response that will be included in your file of respecting human rights” participants addressed Saleh. The 27-year al-Maqtari was jailed in 2003 after being accused of first degree murder. However his family confirmed that he has no intent to kill, adding that it was a case of self-dependence. FR/AF
